RYAN LEVESQUE

Ryan is the Director of Speech and Debate at American Heritage School in Plantation, Florida. He is a certified teacher with ten years of classroom instruction and speech coaching experience. Ryan coached the 2019 NSDA National Champion in Informative Speaking. He has also coached champions and finalists at NSDA nationals, Harvard, Glenbrooks, GMU, and Emory. Recent finalists include: 2019 TOC Informative Speaking champion, 2018 Harvard Informative Speaking champion, 2017 NSDA Informative Speaking runner-up (final round champion), 2017 NSDA Humorous Interp finalists, 2017 Harvard Original Oratory finalist, 2017 NCFL Original Oratory and DI finalists, 2016 Glenbrooks champions in Duo and Original Oratory, 2016 Harvard Humorous Interp champion, 2016 Emory Original Oratory champion, 2016 NSDA semi-finalists in Duo, HI, OO, and POI, and a 2014 NSDA Original Oratory finalist.

DUVAL BODDEN

Duval is the Assistant Director of the Stuyvesant High School Speech and Debate Team and a Communication Lecturer at the New York City College of Technology. He has coached multiple national finalists and champions at the high school and collegiate levels. His students’ recent successes include: 2018 Barkley Forum Champion in Oral Interp, 2017 Yale Runner-up in Program Oral Interpretation (POI), 2017 NSDA Semi-Finalist in Original Oratory, 2017 Harvard Finalists in Original Oratory, Duo, and POI, 2016 NCFL Finalist in Original Oratory and the 2016 NSDA National Champion in Poetry. As high school competitor, Duval was a finalist in Humorous Interp at Harvard and Duo Interp at NCFL Nationals. In college, he competed for George Mason University Forensics Team and was a national finalist in Dramatic Interpretation.

RACHEL WEST

Rachel feels honored and immensely excited to be working at AP Speech this summer! Her passion for coaching was formed at Western Kentucky University. During her graduate assistantship, she assisted in coaching several Persuasive National Out-round competitors, the top 3 National Finalists in After Dinner speaking for 2017, and the ADS National Runner-Up in 2018. Now you can find her at Cypress Bay High school coaching all speech events. In 2019 she coached an NSDA National Finalist in Informative Speaking. Additional highlights of her Platform speaking achievements include; 2 Info finalists and 4 Oratory finalists at Blue Key, 3 Info finalists at Glenbrooks leading to a 1st in Speech sweepstakes, 2 Info finalists and 1 Oratory finalist at Patriot Games, 2 Oratory finalists at The Sunvitational, 1 Info and 1 Oratory finalist at Harvard, and 3 Info and 1 Oratory finalists at the Florida State Tournament. Overall, in her first year, Rachel has coached 2 Oratory champion titles, 5 Info champion titles, and helped qualify 7 speech events to NSDA so far. She looks forward to creating and learning so much from her AP Speech students and fellow coaches this summer!

JAMAQUE NEWBERRY

Jamaque Newberry is a graduate of Western Kentucky University and an alumnus of Nova High School in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. During his time as a competitor on the high school circuit, he championed the 2011 NSDA national tournament in Dramatic Interpretation and reached numerous final rounds at tournaments such as Yale, Emory, Sunvitational, Glenbrooks and The Harvard Invitational. As a competitor on the college forensics circuit, he had many achievements on the national level. He is now the Assistant Director/Head Speech Coach of NSU University School forensics in Davie, FL. Jamaque specializes in solidifying performance choices, developing fresh ideas, script revisions and taking students performances to the next level.

JOSEPH QUINTANA

Joseph is an Assistant Coach at American Heritage School in Plantation, Florida. He deepened his love for forensics after coaching for two years at the University of Alabama. In that time, Joseph coached the National Champion in Informative Speaking (2017), 2 National Finalists in Extemporaneous Speaking (2018-19), 3 National Finalists in Communication Analysis (2018-19), 3 National Finalists in Informative Speaking including the runner-up (2019), and multiple National Outrounds in Informative Speaking, Persuasive Speaking, Impromptu Speaking, Communication Analysis, and Extemporaneous Speaking. In his first year coaching at American Heritage Plantation, highlights of Joseph’s students include: Extemp Champion at Blue Key, Extemp Finalist at Yale, Congress runner-up at Glenbrooks, Extemp Finalist and 2 Congress Finalists as well as the Impromptu Champion at The Sunvitational, and 3 Congress Finalists at George Mason University.

SPENCER ORLOWSKI

Spencer Orlowski is in his third year as the Director of Debate at The American Heritage School in Florida. Spencer takes a process-oriented approach to coaching that leaves students with multitude of perspectives. As a collegiate debater at Western Kentucky University he won the Lincoln Douglas National Championship at both the Pi Kappa Delta and National Forensics Association National Tournaments. Since competing he has coached two National Final Round closeouts at the PKD National Tournament and one at the NFA National Tournament, all in collegiate Lincoln Douglas Debate. During his three years involved in high school LD, his students have accumulated eighteen TOC bids and won the Blue Key Round Robin and tournament, the Sunvitational, Valley, Woodward, closed out FFL Novice States, and closed out the Sophomore Throwdown at Valley. His students have also gotten to semis at Yale, Harvard, and the TOC, and finals at Cypress Bay and Strake Jesuit. Spencer’s biggest focus is on creating an inclusive and educational environment where students feel comfortable experimenting with new arguments and pushing themselves to become better people. 

JORDYN ALLEN

Jordyn Allen is a passionate public speaker who lives by the motto “Speak to

Inspire. Speak to Empower.” As a firm believer that your voice is the most

powerful weapon, she founded “Speak to Inspire. Speak to Empower.” to

teach children and adults the art of public speaking. Jordyn's speeches have

been embedded in high school and college public speaking curricula across

the nation. Jordyn holds 16 National titles in Speech & Debate, including

HBCU Informative Speaking National Champion (2020), National Speech &

Debate Association Informative Speaking Champion (2019), Harvard

Informative Speaking Champion (2018), National Speech & Debate

Association Informative Speaking Runner (2017) and Two-Time NSDA

President's Bowl Winner. Jordyn's advocacy has prevented gerrymandering

of school zones within Broward County Public Schools and has allowed her

to argue and win cases before the National Bar Association. Although she has

received numerous accolades in many fields, it is more important to her that

children and adults understand the power of their voice and how to use it

effectively to create change.

ALFIE

Camp Mascot

Alfie is excited to return to camp this summer to inspire, encourage, and to bark orders when he needs to. Alfie was the NSDA (National Speaking Dogs Association) national champion in Humorous Interp with his hilarious rendition of "Lady and the Tramp." He was also a finalist in Dramatic Interp, performing the classic "Old Yeller." Alfie knows that the best remedy for writer's block is belly rubs so come hang with the big dogs at AP Speech this summer. Don't forget to bring treats!
